Veterans Cooperative is a private foundation whose mission is to support veterans through programs that focus on Home, Health & Wellness, Food Security and Emergencies.
Alton “Doc” Coleman is a U.S. Navy veteran who served as a Fleet Marine Force Corpsman with the U.S. Marine Corps' 3rd Marine Division. In 2017 he joined the Marine Corps League and today serves as a Past Detachment Commandant (Unicoi 783) and is the Sr. Vice Commandant for the MCL's Department of Georgia.
His wife Tammy, a retired high school math teacher of 30 years, serves as Detachment 783's Paymaster and the Adjutant for the MCL's Department of Georgia. Through their involvement with veteran service organizations, they have witnessed the hurdles veteran service organizations face when fundraising.
In 2024, they established Veterans Cooperative, a private 501(c)(3) non-profit foundation to support Detachment 783's Larry Ashley Veterans Relief Program.
