Veterans Cooperative is a private foundation whose mission is to support veterans through programs that focus on Home, Health & Wellness and Food Security.
Alton “Doc” Coleman is a U.S. Navy veteran who served as a Fleet Marine Force Corpsman with the U.S. Marine Corps' 3rd Marine Division. In 2017 he joined the Marine Corps League and today serves as one of 783's Past Commandants and is the Sr. Vice Commandant for the MCL's Department of Georgia.
His wife Tammy, a retired high school math teacher of 30 years, serves as Detachment 783's Paymaster and the Adjutant for the MCL's Department of Georgia. Through their involvement with veteran service organizations, they have witnessed the problems veterans face and difficulties VSOs have with fundraising today.
In 2024 they established Veterans Cooperative, a private 501(c)(3) non-profit foundation to support Detachment 783, whose veterans relief program focuses on issues concerning Home, Health and Food Security.
Veterans Cooperative, Inc. is a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. VCI is staffed by an all volunteer work force.
