Veterans Cooperative is a private foundation whose mission is to support veterans through programs that focus on Home, Health & Wellness, Food Security and Education.
Alton “Doc” Coleman is a U.S. Navy veteran who served as a Fleet Marine Force Corpsman with the 3rd Marine Division. In 2017 he joined the Marine Corps League and today serves as 783's Jr. Past Commandant and as the Jr. Vice Commandant for the MCL's Department of Georgia.
His wife Tammy, a retired high school math teacher of 30 years, serves as Detachment 783's Adjutant and Paymaster. Through their involvement with veteran service organizations, they have witnessed the difficulties some face with fundraising.
In 2023 they set out to establish a foundation to support MCL Unicoi Detachment 783 whose programs focus on Home, Health/Wellness, Education and Food Security.
Veterans Cooperative, Inc. is a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. VCI is staffed by an all volunteer work force.
